Season’s Greetings!

Happy Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Happy Festivus, Happy Kwanza, Happy Winter solstice!

For all of human history this time of year has been considered special.

When we lived off the land it was the hardest part of winter, the shortest day. After this week in the year, the days would get longer and the nights shorter. If your food supplies were good enough that you had survived to this point, you could see the light at the end of this most difficult of seasons, and you would know if you had enough resources to survive to the spring. That was reason enough to celebrate!

This was always equated to a rebirth and was identified by specific configurations of stars in the night sky. For a millennia people around the world have told stories of special births and miracles happening at this time of year.

Many of us are not able to follow our normal family celebrations this year, because of the need to socially distance. This doesn’t mean we are not thinking of all those we love, admire and care about.

Whichever religion you follow, I hope this time brings you love, happiness and rejuvenation.
